There was a sweet calmness about Aline that came across to me even in her emails.
Here she was about to make her dreams come true in a stylish Kamalame Cay Bahamas elopement by marrying her love and her focus was on one aspect. She wanted it to be simply about their love.
Aline & Karim both from Switzerland, met in school when they were younger but didn’t keep in touch. They met again at 16 and bonded over their interest for graffiti and hip hop culture.
“I’d say it became serious with time! We were so young at the beginning and did not think too much about the future.”
Self described as “old souls,” They both have a love for classical, elegant clothing, Karim is always dressed to the nines! I used to have a very 50’s style but I am a bit more low key now.
Having spent a week in Cuba before heading to Kamalame Cay, they wanted to bring some very personal touches from their families with them on their wedding day. Aline’s mother Gaby designed and made her wedding dress, It was a beautiful minimalist 60s inspired dress in off white shantung, with a round neck, 3/4 sleeves and hemmed above the knees. She made sure to stitch the wedding date on the it’s label. She choose to wear this with vintage 60s rhinestones earclips and a high bun.
Karim wore beautiful double breasted white linen blazer and had his Cuban cigar tucked in his breast pocket.
I arrived a few hours before the ceremony and it was a glorious day for a destination wedding here in The Bahamas. There had been some thuunderstorm earlier that morning but now the skies where a bright blue with just a few clouds.
Grabbing a golf cart and heading over to their cottage, Aline greeted me with a kiss on both cheeks. They were getting ready together in their room and chatted to me about the travels in Cuba and about how dreamlike Kamalame Cay seemed to be. All the whilst photographing them. You could feel their excitement growing.
The ceremony was a simple elegant affair with their witnesses being guests from the resort they had met at the previous nights barbecue on the property. After the ceremony we jumped on the the golf cart and took a few hours to capture their portraits around the island.
Enjoy a few from their special day.
