The stars were aligned when Dan reached out to me about his plans to propose to his girlfriend Seanie. They were to arrive in Nassau for a four day vacation and he wanted to propose on the first day on the beach and I was thrilled to be able to document such a momentous Atlantis proposal occasion.
With careful planning we came up with a code word ” Flamingo” so he knew that when I used that in a sentence, I was set to go. For the initial planning, Dan had told Seanie that he had booked a casual couples shoot on the beach so that they could have great images of their Bahamas vacation. I even had to set up a separate Pinterest board with no mention of engagements so as not to let the cat out of the bag. They snapped cell phone pics of their outfits and I helped them decide. Dan had even sent her to my website and Seanie mentioned how she loved the shots with Atlantis in the background at sunset in one of my portfolio images. So I knew that I was going to create some gorgeous images for them at that time.
We met in the lobby of the RIU with all 3 of us having landed in Nassau a few hours before and walked down the beach. I was careful not to give anything away. It all flowed like a typical couples session and after a few minutes, I could see they both relaxed into the session and we chatted like old friends. When the time came, I mentioned how the Atlantis building was pink like a “flamingo” stepped back to give them some privacy and let it all unfold.
Through my lens, I saw Dan drop to his knee and Seanie looked a little confused and then… well I’ll let the images tell you the rest!
Congratulations Seanie & Dan!
