I remember the moment Jonell walked in the studio for our consultation and her excitement about her Grand Bahama Nautical wedding which at that time was a year away. She had come on her lunch break and wanted to make sure nothing was left to chance. As she started telling me her plans for her wedding day, I realized it was going to be a few firsts for me.
Her service was going to be held at a church in Pinder’s Point and her reception held at Freeport Harbour. She explained that Roman was a ship pilot and the significance the harbour played in their lives, It was easy to understand why. They had met in 2005 when she spotted him at the local carnival. “Our first date was about two weeks after we saw each other for the first time at the carnival. We went to the movies to watch a supernatural action thriller. I felt butterflies in my stomach after seeing him for the second time… he was a young gentlemen. During the movie we didn’t speak too much but I kept thinking “Is this guy going to kiss me tonight? And that he did 🙂 Roman’s best gift to me was going back in time. For our 10th year dating anniversary Roman planned a night where we went back in time with all of our firsts. We started the night with dinner at Luciano’s resturant and the waiter handed me a card with a love letter of our first dinner date in the menu, then we went to the carnival played the game knock all bottles, with three tries Roman did not win one!! But on my second try I was successful and won a stuffed minion after the lady handed me card 2 with a love letter of the first time we met, then we went to the movies, he gave me this lame excuse that he left the car window down, when I got to the window the ticket lady handed me card 3 with a love letter of our first date.
With Christ at the forefront of their lives, Roman & Jonell along with their families joined in union at Upper Zion Baptist church in Pinder’s Point, a settlement of Grand Bahama. This was my first baptist wedding and hopefully It won’t be my last. There was so much love for them, you could see the joy in their guests faces!
